Welcome!
Welcome to the Suffolk church of Christ in Suffolk, Virginia, where together, as a loving church family, we live, play, work, pray and worship our Heavenly Father in truth and spirit! We have no other creed but the Bible, and we strive to not add to the Word or take away from it. We look very forward to having visitors, so please come and worship and study with us as soon as you can.
We Are Simply Christians
It is our wish and purpose to wear no other name than Christ's. This was certainly true of the Lord's people in the first century. (Acts 11:26, & I Peter 4:16)
Our Emphasis Is Spiritual, Not Material Or Social
As is probably evident to you, if you have seen our meeting place, we place very little emphasis upon luxurious surroundings. Our emphasis is on the spiritual not the material and while we seek each other's association socially, the church is not the front for a social club or agency. Therefore, we do not use the Lord's treasury or facilities to promote social functions. Our aim is for an individual's spiritual growth. (I Peter 2:5 & Romans 12:1)
We Are Striving To Be The Same Church As Described In The New Testament
Jesus said in Matthew 16:18 "...upon this rock I will build MY church...". It is our desire to be a part of the church which Jesus built. It is our sincere desire then to be patterned after HIS church in origin and design and therefore nondenominational. We believe this to be possible to all who will learn, believe and be guided by the plain teaching of the Word of God. Jesus declared the Word of God to be the "seed of the kingdom". (Luke 8:11) A fundamental troth in nature is that a specific kind of seed, when planted, will always produce after its kind. For example, wheat will produce wheat and corn will produce corn. In like manner, the Word of God, when planted in the hearts of honest people, and obeyed, will produce a Christian, just as it did in the first century. Nothing more and nothing less.

Love, as noticed in last weeks article, which leads one to a home in Heaven has many sides. The one to be supremely loved is of course GOD. But one must also love the testimonies of GOD, His commands, and His truth. This week the task is to notice some other areas where love is required of Christians.

For the last couple of weeks the subject of the teaching paper articles has been the kind of love it takes to go to Heaven. This week the subject is quite different. The theme will still be love, but the love spoken about will be love which is destructive, i.e., the kind of love which should be avoided.
